A series becomes a learning path when the reader can tell where to start, what each page enables and which page comes next. Publication order alone may not provide that structure.

Quick answer: Define the destination task, arrange prerequisites before dependent work and give each article a distinct reader job. Link the next step with a reason. Consolidate pages that answer the same question rather than making readers navigate near-duplicates.

Start from the destination

For an illustrative agent-evaluation path, the destination could be a reviewable candidate decision. A sensible progression might begin with acceptance criteria, then fixtures, operation evidence and a report.

StepReader outcome
DefineState required behavior
PrepareBuild a controlled case
CaptureIdentify the evidence needed
EvaluateApply suitable checks
ReviewDecide what the result supports

This is a proposed learning sequence, not a claim that every application follows one linear process.

Give each page a contract

The opening should identify the reader, task and prerequisites. A page about evidence capture should not silently require a product configuration that has never been introduced.

Use a short example that can carry across the path, while keeping each page useful independently.

“Next, build a controlled fixture so the expected outcome is inspectable” is more useful than a generic related-post list.

Preserve a return path for readers arriving from search. They should not have to infer the entire series from a numbered title.

Maintain the path as a unit

When a tool contract changes, inspect dependent examples and links. A current overview cannot compensate for a broken prerequisite.

Start with the acceptance-criteria guide, continue to the starter dataset, and use the report guide to connect evidence to a decision.
